  • Saturday, March 14, 2009 - Marie was Guest Speaker at the March Gulf Coast Poet's Meeting (Poetry Society of Texas chapter), Barnes & Noble, 1029 W. Bay Area Blvd, Webster, TX.  Her topic was "Confessions of a Poet."  The lecture and reading had been scheduled for September, but postponed due to Hurricane Ike.

  • Saturday, March 7  - Marie was invited by Sucesos (Newspaper of the Hispanic Community) to be among the honorees at their Second Annual Gala, "A Tribute to the Hispanic Woman," commemorating International Women's Day, Crowne Plaza Hotel (290 and Pinemont)), Houston, TX.  For more information, see pictures from the International Woman's Day Gala.

  • 10-14 & 10-15-06 - Marie coordinated appearances by ten CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE LATINO SOUL authors at the Edward James Olmos LATINO BOOK FAIR AND FAMILY FESTIVAL, Pomona Fairplex, Los Angeles, CA.

  • 5-6 & 5-7-06 - EDWARD JAMES OLMOS 4th Annual Houston LATINO BOOK AND FAMILY FESTIVAL  - Readings / Panel Discussion on "What Latinos Need to Know to Get Published" by Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul contributors from Texas:  Marie Delgado Travis (Coordinator), Esther Bonilla Read, Rogelio Gomez, Maria Luisa Salcines, Olga Valle-Herr and Margarita B. Velez.  The event (largest book fair in Texas) featured guest appearances by Laura Esquivel (LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE) and Esmeralda Santiago (WHEN I WAS PUERTO RICAN), Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez (DIRTY GIRLS' CLUB) and Univision anchor Maria Elena Salinas, among other Hispanic celebs.  TONY DIAZ, weekly radio host of NUESTRA PALABRA:  Latino/a Writers Having Their Say organized the event, held on the Central Campus of Houston Community College.
